Mae Herrera Ott 5/10/1926 - 2/03/2022

Mae Herrera Ott, age 95, was surrounded by family as she passed away at home in Loomis on February 3, 2022. Mae was a 1944 graduate of McClatchy High School in Sacramento. After high school, Mae left her first job to accompany her sister Selda to Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked at the military base and lived in the barracks. When Mae returned to California, she worked for Southern Pacific for nine years and Shell Oil seven. She met her husband-to-be Harvey Ott in Sacramento and they were married – one month short of – 60 years! They moved to Newcastle with their three daughters in 1974 and to Loomis in 2001. Mae navigated this life with undeniable energy and vibrancy. She loved music and dancing. Hers was the home where family and friends gathered for holidays and special occasions. In her practical approach to life, her infectious spirit, and her love for family and friends, Mae truly impacted all those she touched. Mae was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend…and the life of every party she attended. Mae unselfishly loved her family and dedicated her life to creating a loving, warm, and healthy home. Mae is survived by her husband Harvey, their three daughters and their husbands, Christine Anderson of Fair Oaks, Barbara Voss of Loomis, Lorraine Kirby of Granite Bay, and four grandchildren, Justin, Miranda, Reagan and Jenna Voss. Of the six children in her family, Mae is survived by her brother Paul Herrera. Funeral services will be held at Chapel of the Hills in Auburn on Saturday, February 26, at noon with viewing at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to lunch at Mae and Harvey's home after the service.
