3rd Folsom Lake Crossing crash victim dies

Folsom Police have confirmed a third victim involved in today's head-on collision on Folsom Lake Crossing has now died after being transported to the hospital. The investigation is continuing at the crash site and the road remains closed. At 3:55 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, units were dispatched to the incident. Folsom Police, Folsom fire Department's Engine 36, El Dorado Hills Truck 85 and Folsom Medic 36 were dispatched to the incident. Upon arrival, first responders reported extrication was underway as an additional medic unit was being dispatched to the scene, but was soon cancelled as first responders confirmed two of the three victims were deceased on scene. One victim was extricated and transported and has since passed The Folsom Telegraph has confirmed the incident was head on collision between two mid-size sedans. According to Folsom Police Chief Rick Hillman who was on scene shortly after the collision. The drivers of both vehicles were those confirmed dead on scene.The latest fatality was a passenger in one of the vehicles. The incident occurred on Folsom Lake Crossing, near the curve in the roadway, not far from the spillway. According to Andrew Bates of the Folsom Police Department, although the investigation is still ongoing, the collision occurred when one of the vehicles crossed the center line. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. The section of roadway on Folsom Lake Crossing has had a history of accidents, including a high speed head-on collision 2016 near the same location, killing three people at the time.
