Gerald (Jerry) Lawton 10/22/1935 – 2/1/2022

Jerry passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2022. He will be deeply missed.Jerry was born in Kingsburg, CA. He lived in the San Jose area until he was 12 and moved to Grass Valley with his parents and sister. He helped his dad make adobe bricks from the soil to build The Lawton Adobe Village Motel on Marysville Hwy.After graduation Jerry went to work for Collier's Shoes in Grass Valley and at the age of 19 married his high school sweetheart Betty Peterson. They had a daughter Carolyn and son Michael but eventually divorced and Jerry found his lifetime significant other Sharon King of Grass Valley who passed away previously to Jerry. They had a wonderful 22 years together.In 1982 Jerry opened his own shoe store The Footpath in Auburn, CA. He worked many long hours building his business into what it is today. He was a great businessman and mentor. His children joined him working at the store and continue his legacy today.Jerry was a fan of Red Skelton, his patriotism and clean humor. He began collecting his artwork and met Red a few times. He also liked cars and electronics and was always up on the newest gadgets.Jerry had a good life and he will be missed so much by his family and friends.Jerry is survived by his son Mike (Tracy), daughter Carolyn (John), stepdaughters Darlene and Laurie, sister Diane Nelson, grandchildren Jason, Jesse and Amanda, great granddaughters Haley, Maddy and Ariana and great great grandchildren Clara and Carter. He was preceded in death by Sharon King the love of his life.Rest in Peace, you will be forever in our hearts and memories. We love you and miss you.
