Fatal motorcycle crash impacts Roseville traffic

Placer County residents were unprepared for a delay in their work commute due to a fatal motorcycle crash early Friday morning. Roseville Police Department received a call about 2 a.m. Friday about a motorcycle accident that took place on Sunrise Avenue and Francis Drive in Roseville. According to a Roseville Police Department report, one motorcycle is involved. As of 10 a.m. Friday, the Roseville Police Department has determined that no other vehicles were involved. One individual is hospitalized with severe injuries and one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown at this time, according to Roseville Police, whether two people were on the motorcycle or one was off the motorcycle. According to Roseville Police Department public information officer Rob Baquera, bystanders attempted to perform first aid to the individual who was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders arriving afterward. The Roseville Police Department is currently confirming family notifications of the victims, as well as the identity of the deceased from the Placer County Coroner's Office, and will not release the names of the victims until they receive confirmation. Baquera told Gold Country Media Friday morning that it's "unknown" whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. "That is all part of the ongoing investigation," Baquera said. As of 10 a.m. Friday morning, Baquera shared with Gold Country Media that the roads where the accident took place were just reopening and that traffic congestion should decrease.
