Active homicide investigation in Roseville, 41-year-old woman found dead in Livoti Avenue home

An active crime scene investigation is underway after a woman was reportedly found dead inside a home early Wednesday morning, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Deputies responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly after midnight at a duplex on the 500 block of Livoti Ave. in Roseville, the Placer County Sheriff's Office said. When deputies entered the home, they found a 41-year-old woman who had died, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. The incident is still actively being investigated and detectives have determined the death to be a homicide, according to law enforcement. At this time, a suspect has not been identified or located, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Detectives canvassed the neighborhood Wednesday morning looking for video surveillance related to the homicide, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. "The incident is so fresh that detectives are still trying to piece together what happened," said Placer County Sheriff's Office public information officer Angela Musallam Wednesday morning. The Placer County Sheriff's Office asks residents who have any information on the incident to call the office's homicide tip line immediately at 530-889-7853. One neighbor who lives near the duplex where the 41-year-old woman lived said he heard from other neighbors that she was beaten to death with a baseball bat. The Placer County Sheriff's Office was not available for confirmation of this detail Wednesday afternoon. Janice Palomo, another neighbor who lives next to the duplex where the woman was found, said her family was asleep when the incident occurred. Police officers knocked on her door around 1 a.m. to ask questions and search her backyard for a suspect, Palomo said. Palomo said she did not hear any gunshots that night. Officers did not give Palomo details on the incident but told her they were looking for a white male who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and wearing a hoodie, she said. Palomo, who has lived in the neighborhood about 25 years, said the 41-year-old woman police found had been living in the unit at that duplex for about 10 years with a husband and two sons, who are aged around late teen to early adult. Palomo gave the two boys her old basketball hoop years ago, she said. "We talked to each other through the fence a couple of times and that's it," Palomo said about how well she knew the woman and her family. "They kind of kept to themselves. Pretty much everybody in this neighborhood just keeps to themselves." Palomo said she and her kids still feel safe in the neighborhood and that incidents like this are usually targeted and not random. She said she had never heard of instances of physical violence from the woman's home. "We hear fights, yes, verbal fights," Palomo said about the woman's house. "But nothing anything ever like where we thought anybody was being injured or anything like that, just a normal family."
