Applegate Civic Center Club to hold flea market fundraiser

The Applegate Civic Center Club will hold its flea market fundraiser Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The flea market features 40-plus spaces at 18014 Applegate Road and will include live music and Dave's Dawgs. The club has been in operation since 1947 and recently completed its 70th Easter egg hunt, according to President Judy Cook. For information, call Cook at 916-709-0892. Widowed Persons meet The Widowed Persons Club of Auburn will hold its monthly Get Acquainted Dinner at Sizzler in Auburn on Thursday, May 5, at 4:30 pm. All widowed persons are invited to attend. Sons in Retirement meeting The next meeting for Sons in Retirement is Thursday, May 5, at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge in Auburn. Second ceremony to honor Vietnam vets Marilyn Schneider received a few calls and emails following a ceremony March 29 to honor servicemen and women on National Vietnam Veterans Day, so she's planning another ceremony. Schneider, location coordinator for Auburn Area Wreaths Across America, has scheduled a ceremony Thursday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Woodside Village Mobile Home Park, 12155 Luther Road, in Auburn. Anyone who served during the Vietnam era is invited, along with spouses. The March 29 event was attended by 25 people. Veterans received a Vietnam Veterans commemorative pin issued by Congress to honor the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam conflict. Kids Fly-In event May 28 in Georgetown Divide for the Kids announced the second annual Georgetown Airport Divide for the Kids Fly-In event May 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Kids and kids at heart are welcome to enjoy this free event. Aircraft and engines on display will include CHP, CALSTAR, El Dorado County Sheriff, Search & Rescue, CAL FIRE, warbirds, historical, aerobatic aircraft and many more, with private pilots flying in from all over the state. The Coyote Hill Band and Serpentine Dust will offer live music, and food trucks will set the vibe.
