Placer County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate Roseville homicide

Placer County Sheriff's Office detectives continue to investigate the homicide of a woman in a Roseville duplex the morning of April 20, according to public information officer Angela Musallam. "Detectives continue to search for leads in the homicide that occurred on Livoti Avenue in unincorporated Roseville," Musallam said Monday. "Currently, no suspect has been identified. We urge residents in the area to remain vigilant and please call the Sheriff's Office if they notice anything suspicious or out of the ordinary." Officers responded to a 9-1-1 call shortly after midnight April 20 at a duplex on the 500 block of Livoti Avenue in Roseville, according to Musallam. Deputies found a 41-year-old woman who had died at the home, according to Musallam, and detectives determined the death to be a homicide. There was a resident inside the home with the victim when she was killed who called 9-1-1 to report it, Musallam said. The Placer County Sheriff-Coroner Division identified the victim as 41-year-old Erica Marie Wright on April 21. There are still no leads or tips for the case as of Thursday morning, Musallam said. Video surveillance collected from nearby neighbors has not yet helped develop leads, according to Musallam. One neighbor on Livoti Avenue said Thursday that he and other neighbors in the area have not received extra information on the homicide from officers. The neighbor said he did not hear about the incident until the next morning when officers knocked on his door and asked to see his surveillance camera video. "I showed him my videos," the neighbor said. "Apparently, they were looking for a particular car at that time. So he copied the videos and then I had a neighbor down the street give me his rendition of it but that's just hearsay. I know the house has been vacated completely." The neighbor said that Wright is only the second person he has heard of who has been killed on that street. The first person was a woman who died about 30 years ago when he first moved into the neighborhood, he said. Livoti Avenue is a block away from the Roseville transit center at Louis Lane and Orlando Avenue where neighbors say some transients and homeless individuals come through. The Louis Orlando Transit Center was renovated in 2017 to include covered passenger boarding areas, enhanced lighting, security cameras and a landscaped public park-and-ride lot, according to the Roseville Public Works Department. "When we got the transit thing in, that is causing a lot of change in the types of people that are coming through and I think that's what creates situations like this," the neighbor said. Despite the incident, the neighbor said he still feels safe in the neighborhood. "It bothers me from the standpoint that a family has been destroyed," he said. "No matter who did it, that family has been destroyed and she seemed like a really nice gal the time that I talked to her." Other residents have continued to comment on the Placer County Sheriff's Office Facebook page asking for updates on the case and hoping that the suspect is found. "Any updates? Is this domestic or is there a random killer bludgeoning women the public needs to be aware of!?" one woman commented. The Placer County Sheriff's Office cannot confirm at this point if the incident was domestic or random, Musallam said. The Placer County Sheriff's Office asks residents who have any information that can help lead to the suspect's arrest to immediately call the office's homicide tip line at 530-889-7853. A cash reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers for any information leading to the suspect's arrest, Musallam said.
