Firefighters attack, contain fast moving El Dorado Hills fire

Firefighters in El Dorado Hills have stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire that quickly consumed approximately 21 acres and threatened structures in the El Dorado Hills Business Park west of Town Center Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. Shortly after 1:30 p.m., Firefighters from El Dorado Hills, Folsom and CalFire were dispatched to a reported wildland south of Highway 50 just prior to the Latrobe Road exit and near several large populated office buildings, including Blue Shield of California. As wind fueled flames, the blaze quickly grew from its size of 3 acres that it was when firefighters arrived to nearly 7 times its size. At one point, firefighters were sheltering in the place in and around the business complex due to the erratic fire behavior. As of 3:30, the blaze has been contained and firefighters continue to work on hot sports and mop up. At this time, no reported structures were damaged in the incident. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and firefighters are expected to remain on scene into the early evening.
