Placer County Law Enforcement Torch Run comes through Auburn on June 17

The second annual Placer County Law Enforcement Torch Run will take place Friday, June 17, starting at 9 a.m. in front of the Auburn Justice Center and ending at the Historic Courthouse. Other agencies participating include the Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville and Lincoln police departments, CHP, CAL FIRE, Placer County Probation, the Placer County District Attorney's Office and State Parks. Area Special Olympics athletes have been invited to join the run. The route is 5.2 miles total. Supporters can watch throughout the course – from Richardson to Atwood, up Atwood to Highway 49, Highway 49 to Nevada Street, Nevada Street to Elm Avenue, Elm to High Street, High Street to Lincoln Way, and Lincoln Way to the courthouse, ending through the PCSO arch. Monday, June 20, is the 25th anniversary of the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run State Capitol. The ceremony runs from 10-11 a.m. at the Capitol steps, West Side, 10th and L streets in Sacramento. The Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run raises funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes. The Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement partners and Special Olympics athletes carry the Special Olympics Torch – the Flame of Hope – to the Capitol steps and then onto the annual Summer Games competition.
