Roseville firefighters prevent fast moving fire from reaching Dudley Drive homes Saturday evening

A quick response by firefighters contained a Fast moving vegetation fire near a well populated area of Roseville Saturday evening. According to reports, at 6:43 p.m. units from Roseville Fire responded to a reported vegetation fire in the grassy area that sits between Vernon Street and the BMX facility on Riverside Avenue. Crews arrived on scene to find a vegetation fire with a fast rate of spread. Firefighters called for additional resources for structure protection as the fire was heading to the back of homes on Dudley Drive and they began a quick fire attack. Fortunately firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire with no extension to any homes or structures in the area. Crews remained on scene later in the evening, mopping up hot spots in the area to prevent any flare ups. The final acreage for the fire was reportedly 1.3 acres and the cause is not yet determined and under investigation. Roseville Police responses to assist with traffic control and coordinate any potential evacuations. The area roadways are reportedly back open this evening.
