Body of Folsom Lake jet skier found near Granite Bay

After nearly a week long search, California State Parks and Placer County sheriff's personnel recovered a body in Folsom Lake Friday that is believed to be that of missing jet skier Eric Riley. California State Parks officials said a boater spotted the decedent at about in the same general vicinity where he went missing near Doton's Point in Granite Bay. Personnel with the Placer County Sheriff's Office Coroner's Unit recovered the body. Riley, 37, was reportedly riding jet skis with others last Saturday, according to California State Parks officials. One of the riders reportedly fell into the water and Riley jumped in the water to help, and did not return to the surface. According to a family friend who reached out to Gold Country Media in the days following his disappearance, Riley had recently moved from La Porte, Texas, to the Sacramento area for a job. His wife and family are currently still in Texas. Riley was reportedly not wearing a life vest. Good Samaritans aboard a nearby boat were reportedly able to pull the fallen rider, who was wearing a life vest, out of the water but Riley was not located, according to California State Parks superintendent Richard Preston-LeMay. California State Parks lifeguards, trained in free-diving, were assisted by the Placer County Sheriff's Office dive team in an underwater search. Placer County provided air support in the immediate hours following his disappearance, in hopes the man would bd found alive. Earlier the same day a hiker drowned when they were swept into the waters just above Folsom Lake near Satan's Cesspool. Since June four drownings have now taken place in waters of Folsom Lake and it's surrounding inflows.
