Lois Greenlee Thompson 4/21/1931 - 8/9/2022

Lois Greenlee Thompson Passed at the age of 91 on August 9, 2022. Lois was born in Greeley, Colorado to Einar and Lucile. As a small child the family moved to Monterey, CA where she spent her early childhood. When in Junior High her family moved to San Jose CA. She attended San Jose High School which at the time was on the campus of San Jose State College. In Spanish class, she met Dennis Greenlee, her future husband. They married in 1950. Their first son James was born shortly before they moved to Glendale, CA so Dennis could attend Chiropractic College. Their second son Mark, was born soon after. Upon Dennis' graduation, the family moved to Auburn, CA where they purchased their log home on Greenfield Avenue. Their third child, daughter Kimberly was welcomed home there, and a few years later son David completed the family. Lois enjoyed camping with family and friends, especially at the Anchor Bay Campground. Eventually the family built a vacation home just down the road in Gualala, CA. They spent many Easters and summers together enjoying the coast until Dennis and Lois divorced . Lois met William 'Bill' Thompson of Auburn, CA. In August of 1978 they married. During her years in Auburn Lois worked at Bank of California. She was book-keeper for Dennis' office, and secretary for the Congregational Church. She was a long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was involved in many women's groups and sang in the church choir. Bill and Lois also attended the First Baptist Church in Auburn. During their 44 years of marriage, Bill and Lois would enjoy traveling to Alaska and Canada for the Calgary Stampede, along with trips in their fifth wheel to the coast and Walker River. They enjoyed listening to the music of 'Sons of the San Joaquin,' and often traveled to their various performances. Lois loved spending time with her four children and their families. She was known for having a cookie jar filled with home-baked goodies for her grandchildren and their friends. She was an expert at wallpapering and loved to sew clothing, costumes, curtains and home-made Christmas gifts. Dementia began affecting Lois in the early 2000's. Unfortunately this curtailed many of her and Bills activities, giving up traveling, most social outings and going to church regularly. After a long and difficult road, surrounded by the love and care of her family, Lois went to her heavenly home in the early morning hours of August 9, 2022. Lois is survived by her husband Bill, sons James (Linda) Greenlee, Mark (Debbi) Greenlee, Kimberly (Bruce) Ulrich and David (Christina) Greenlee. Lois will lovingly be remembered by her 10 grandchildren, Zacharia (Elizabeth) Greenlee, Jason Greenlee, Hilary (Michael) Bielefelt, Elizabeth (Chris) Wight, Krista Greenlee, Beau (Sarah) Ulrich, Telan (Stephen) Nelson, Samuel (Amy) Greenlee, Rachel Greenlee, and Josiah (Megan) Greenlee. She was lucky enough to meet her 14 great-grandchildren. She would often smile and say, "I created all of this!" She is preceded in death by her sister Kathryn, and parents Einar and Lucile.Services will be Thurs. August 25, 2022. Contact family for more information.
