California Capital Air Show takes flight this weekend

The local sky will be busy this weekend as the California Capital Airshow returns Friday thru Sunday with spectacular air and ground performances and more. This year's fall classic will feature new performers, displays, a Friday-night drive-in show and much more, according to the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce. After success last year, the 2022 version of this event will consist of three days instead of two, beginning with a drive-in show Friday afternoon, which will feature three hours of aerial displays before the traditional shows Saturday and Sunday. This is ideal for those who want to enjoy the show from a "tailgating" perspective with friends and family and aren't up for walking the grounds. Saturday and Sunday will feature aerial events and ground displays for attendees to see up close. The California Capital Airshow has historically drawn tens of thousands to Rancho Cordova. At the same time, the sights and sounds of the planes will be seen throughout the weekend flying over areas well beyond Rancho Cordova as they orchestrate performances that take place above the nearby air base. Routinely, residents in Folsom, Granite Bay and the surrounding areas are treated to a bird's-eye view of activity as the sky about Folsom Lake is often included in the flight path of the high-speed performers. The newest version of this event will host a multi-national commemoration honoring the United States Air Force's 75th anniversary. Grab your chance to experience the world's best pilots and aircrafts, including the fearsome F-22 Raptor's long-awaited comeback, fantastic runway displays, amazing military jet demonstrations and interactive exhibits unlike anything we've ever seen.
