Placer High School to cut ribbon on new Learning Commons Building

The Placer Union High School District Board of Trustees, in conjunction with the administration of Placer High School, is celebrating the opening of the newly constructed Learning Commons Building, its modernized classrooms and providing a peek under the construction hood of the iconic Earl Crabbe Gym at a ribbon-cutting ceremony/open house Monday, Oct. 10, at 5:30 pm. The community is invited to celebrate the new spaces. There will be a brief reception in the Senior Quad, followed by a walking tour. Students now and for years to come will have access to safe and modern learning environments, and PUHSD is excited to showcase these amazing facilities. The Learning Commons Building houses the student cafe, library, college and career center, small group meeting rooms and many areas for students to gather. The modernized classrooms showcase 21st-century flexible furniture and robust technology. Many have said the building reminds them of a facility that would be found on a college campus and provides an abundance of areas to study. "I come here at least once a day. It's a great space to be," says student Jordan Everett. These spaces were essential when Placer High assisted sister school Foresthill High by helping provide their students and staff with learning facilities during the Mosquito Fire. The Earl Crabbe modernization includes adding air conditioning and needed repairs while maintaining the historical prestige of the building.
