Joan P. Cadilli Aukerman 5/28/1930 - 10/3/2022

Joan P. Cadilli Aukerman, resident of Colfax for 27 years, was born in Los Angeles, California 5/28/1930. She passed peacefully on 10/03/2022 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents, James V. Cadilli and Margaret F. Cadilli, her brothers James (Jim) Cadilli and Michael Cadilli, her grandson Eric B. Steele IV and her great grandson Matt Steele. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Alton Aukerman, her son Eric B. Steele III, her grandchildren Sarah Steele Morgan, Amber Steele O'Brien, Alton (AJ) Steele, her great grandchildren Elena Steele, Wyatt Morgan and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Joan grew up in Los Angeles, resided in San Gabriel where she attended Mark Kepple High School. She later resided in El Monte until she moved to the Imperial Valley, Calipatria, with her husband. She was a bookkeeper and caregiver while living in Calipatria. She later moved to Colfax where she enjoyed a beautiful view of the canyon and the Sierra mountains. She attended St. Dominic's church in Colfax and was a member of the choir. She was an incredible seamstress and known for her quilts. Joan was a champion bowler and she loved to play tennis. She taught most of her grandchildren how to swim and passed on numerous recipes to them. She was an Elks Lodge member and she loved to cook for her fellow Elk members as well as her family. She loved life and her smile lit up the room. Joan was the matriarch of her family and she will be missed dearly by all. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
