Ten Oakmont alumni athletes to be inducted into Hall of Fame this weekend

Ten Viking alumni athletes will be inducted into the 2022 Oakmont Hall of Fame at an induction luncheon Saturday in the Oakmont High gymnasium. The 10 inductees are Randy Georgis, Rich Rodas, Wendy Hernandez, Kendra Silver, Kris Rosa, Tim Frei, Mike Alway, Stefanie Simonsen, coach Gary Donnell and coach Ann Simpson. Donnell coached basketball and golf for the Vikings between 1987 to 2012 while Simpson coached cross-country and track and field from 1972 to 1997. Georgia and Rodas both played baseball and graduated in 1977. Hernandez graduated in 1978 and played volleyball, basketball and badminton. Silver is a 1982 Oakmont High graduate and played volleyball and softball. Rosa was a soccer player for the Vikings and graduated in 1985. Frei was a three-sport athlete competing in football, basketball and track and field before graduating in 1987. Alway was also a three-sport athlete and played football, baseball and wrestling and graduated in 1988. Simonsen graduated in 1993 and played volleyball, along with softball. All inductees will also be introduced at halftime of the JV football game on Friday against Placer High. There will also be a meet and greet that will begin at 4:30 p.m. in front of the gym prior to the game. Family friends are invited to join, as well as both current and retired teachers and coaches.
