Celebrate the Holidays in Roseville!

Kick off the holiday season with your family at Roseville's Christmas Tree Lighting on Thursday, Dec. 1 in Vernon Street Town Square at 311 Vernon St. The celebration goes from 6 to 8 p.m. and features holiday festivities such as decorating Christmas cookies, meeting Santa, a kids' activity zone, music and food, according to the city of Roseville's website. The official lighting of the tree begins at 6:10 p.m. The tree lighting is one in a series of holiday events Roseville is hosting this week. On Nov. 30, Vernon Street is celebrating the 10th annual Tree Grove festivities from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Families can walk through and view the lit-up trees lining the streets, which will be decorated by local businesses, organizations, and schools, and listen to holiday music. Also starting Nov. 30, Roseville is displaying entries for its Gingerbread House Contest in Vernon Town Square's Civic Center. The community will have the opportunity to view the gingerbread houses on display at the Civic Center and online from Nov. 30 to Dec. 10. The community will also get to vote on their favorite houses for the contest online at https://www.roseville.ca.us/residents/city_events/downtown_holiday_celebration. After the ceremonious Christmas Tree Lighting on Dec. 2, adults can enjoy a wine-tasting experience at Roseville's North Pole Tavern in Vernon Town Square. For $10, guests get six tastings from local breweries, including Alaskan Brewing Co., Crystal Basin Cellars and The Monk's Cellar Brewery & Public House. Children are also welcome, as there will be food trucks, children's holiday activities and the Gingerbread House contest. On the morning of Dec. 3, "Santa needs help in his workshop," said the City of Roseville's website, "Enjoy a tasty pancake breakfast with your family, make crafts in the elves' workshop, play reindeer games and visit with Santa."
