New Taylor Road traffic signal operating

The newly-installed traffic signal on Taylor Road and the Golfland Sunsplash parking lot entrance in Roseville was activated Nov. 17, according to a city of Roseville press release. The signal is a flashing yellow arrow alerting drivers to yield to oncoming traffic and decrease waiting times for drivers trying to turn into the parking lot. "A second flashing yellow left-turn arrow will be installed in the opposite direction when a new Golfland Sunsplash parking lot opens across the street in spring 2023," according to the city of Roseville's press release. According to Roseville Police Department public information officer Rob Baquera, "the primary factor for adding that light was for pedestrian traffic at Sunsplash." Taylor Road is a busy road that many drivers use to travel to some of Roseville's most popular locations, such as Sunsplash, In-N-Out Burger, Brookfields Restaurant, the Galleria Mall and the Fountains at Roseville. Taylor Road is also used to travel to Rocklin neighborhoods, restaurants, stores and parks, including Quarry Park and Johnson-Springview Park According to this week's Word on the Street answers on page 2 about the new light, residents have mixed feelings about the new signal. East Roseville Parkway and Taylor Road was the 10th most dangerous intersection in Roseville in 2021, according to the Roseville Police Department's 2021 Summary on Traffic Collisions. The new signal is near this major intersection. The Roseville Police Department is finishing its summary for 2022, Baquera said, and "we don't have a new ranking on if that intersection remains on the top 10 list." "Identifying our top collision intersections is important to our overall traffic safety efforts so we can prioritize our resources on the ground to reduce speeds and decrease traffic accidents," Baquera said.
