Aspire 14 boys' earn bid to Jr. Nationals

The Aspire Volleyball Club's 14 Boys' team placed first at Nor-Cal Regionals in Utah, thereby earning a bid to Jr. Nationals back in Utah in July. The team, coached by Cinnamon DaSilva and Grayson Kling, posted a record of 27-1 throughout the tournament. The Aspire 17 and 18 teams both placed third in Jr. Nationals, the 17s coached by Jarod Robles and Nathan Thalken and the 18s coached by James Fanshier and Katie Haley. "It's cool to see the kids succeed," said DaSilva, who created the Aspire club in 2008, which has grown to support the community with 10 boys' teams and 19 girls' teams. The 14 boys' team includes Bhargavram Chintaluri, Isaac Morris, Jackson Carmichael, Jamie Fraser, Noah Nast, Pranil Raichura, Quinton Maciel, Scott Camden, Sean Sullivan, Shaya Zaighami, Sunny Sah and Zachary Corpus. "We have lots of leaders on the team," DaSilva said. "Our captain and setter is Jackson Carmichael, who contributes with his serving, blocking, and hitting. Our powerhouse hitter is Jamie Fraser with Quinton Maciel and Scott Camden also contributing big on offense and defense. Defense and serve receive is led by libero Bhar Chintaluri, who is a digging machine." The 14 boys' team competed against 43 teams at Nor-Cal regionals. The Aspire Club is hoping to get more teams to qualify for Jr. Nationals in the open and USA divisions.
