In Placer County, there are many ways residents can stay happy and healthy. Rocklin, Roseville, Loomis and Lincoln have many parks that residents can visit and offer recreational programs that help us stay healthy. Rocklin The city of Rocklin has 37 parks and 200-plus acres of open space, according to Rocklin's website at rocklin.ca.us/parks. Quarry Park is the "central gathering place and picturesque setting for community events, concerts, quiet walks through nature and active play," the website states. The park has an amphitheater for concerts and features Quarry Park Adventures, "the nation's only adventure park built within a rock quarry," Rocklin's website said. Quarry Park Adventures offers rock climbing, free falling, a Kidz Kove playground, a zipline, paddle boats and more. For more information, visit https://quarrypark.com/. Rocklin also has some unique health classes offered through their Active Adults Newsletters. "The Active Adults Monthly Newsletter provides information on programs and activities designed for adults who want to remain active and engage in activities with others in the community," according to www.rocklin.ca.us/active-adults. Roseville Roseville Parks, Recreation, and Libraries won the National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management in 1972 and was a finalist in 2022. According to https://www.roseville.ca.us/government/departments/parks, "The Gold Medal Awards program honors communities in the United States that demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development and agency recognition." Roseville has more than 60 parks, all with amenities such as sports fields, playgrounds, trails and more. One of the most notable parks in Roseville is Mahany Park located at 1545 Pleasant Grove Boulevard. This park directly neighbors nearby Roseville landmarks, such as the Mahany Fitness Center. The Mahany Fitness Center was formerly known as the Roseville Sports Center before the name change at the Roseville City Council meeting on Dec. 21, according to a previous Gold Country Media article, "Roseville parks named at City Council meeting." Mahany Park offers playgrounds for children, a football field and a short bike trail. Just next door to the Mahany Fitness Center is an open seating area. Loomis Loomis has two parks, Blue Anchor Park and Sunrise Loomis Park, according to the town of Loomis website at loomis.ca.gov/departments/parks-recreation. Blue Anchor Park is located "next to the Loomis Train Station off of Horseshoe Bar Road and Taylor Road in Loomis. It features a skatepark with stairs and grinding rails to do tricks on. Sunrise Loomis Park at 5871 Arcadia Ave. features a large grass field and a playground for children. After school hours, the Loomis Grammar School playground is open for use and is located at 3505 Taylor Road. Del Oro High School's tennis courts are also open for use after school hours and are located at 3301 Taylor Road. The town of Loomis also offers events that improve the "quality of life" amongst residents. There are a variety of classes such as Girls Who Code, Preschool Storytime and Internet Safety. One of Lincoln's most notable parks is Foskett Regional Park located at 1911 Finney Way. It is known for its "four-diamond lighted softball complex and a four-field lighted soccer complex," the city's website states. Foskett Regional Park also has a path where residents can "Take a walk or ride bikes around." Another one of Lincoln's parks is McBean Park at 65 McBean Park Drive. McBean Park is "located at the heart of Lincoln," according to the city's website. McBean Park features a "variety" of amenities, such as a baseball field, basketball courts, a dog park, a playground, soccer fields, and much more. Pet owners love taking their dogs for walks along some of Lincoln's many trails. Auburn Ravine Park located at 1300 Green Ravine Drive is the perfect place for dogs. After walking the trail either via Moore Road or Green Ravine Drive, owners might want to rest but their furry friend might still have lots of energy. That's where the Auburn Ravine Dog Park comes in, "a spacious off-leash dog park with two sides for small dogs and large dogs," according to the city's website.
