Kay Louise Clark McCreary

Kay McCreary, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, January 16, 2023. Kay, or Grandma Kay as some affectionately called her, was born in Shreveport, LA. The family moved soon after she was born to Marshall, TX where she grew up. Among her many talents, she was an accomplished pianist, having started at a young age and studying at The Julliard School in New York, placing in the top 3 at a Van Cliburn piano competition in Texas as well as performing at Carnegie Hall. Kay married Sandy Collins soon after high school and together they had two sons, Key and King. Sadly, Sandy passed away when their youngest son King, was a year old. To be closer to family with two young children, Kay moved to Auburn, CA. After settling into Auburn, she met and married Jerry Burns. Jerry had two children, David, and Carolyn. Their marriage united a family of six and though Kay and Jerry would go on to divorce nine years later, they remained good friends even after and the family once united, would remain family thereafter. Kay would then meet and marry the love of her life, Bruce McCreary. Together, they would go on to travel the world. A life fulfilled, with love and family, friends, and so many adventures. Kay was known for her amazing cooking, famous for her Fire Jelly and Limoncello that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Kay's energy and vivacious tenacity was contagious and earned her many friends, all of whom she loved dearly. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bruce McCreary, her younger brother Creighton Clark, and her parents Herman and Thelma Clark. Kay McCreary is survived by many immediate and extended family members who love her and will miss her. Her children: Key Collins, and King Collins (Erica). Her stepchildren: David Burns (Coppelia), and Carolyn Basque: Her brother: Craig W. Clark (Jan): Her grandchildren: Koby Collins, Tyler Collins and Brennan Collins: Her niece Cantrell Bernau (Ken), and her nephews Will Clark (Magye) and Scott Clark. A Celebration of Life will be held at The General Gomez Art Gallery at 808 Lincoln Way in Auburn, CA on March 25, 2023 at 11:00am.
