Colfax's Diederichs named PVL girls soccer MVP

Colfax High School sophomore Kaia Diederichs has added another accolade to her already long list of accomplishments, as she was named Most Valuable Player of the Pioneer Valley League in girls soccer. Diederichs was a force for the Falcons this season, breaking her school record with 48 goals. She also had 12 assists. Perhaps her biggest moment came as a goalie. In the opening round of the CIF NorCal Regional Division IV Tournament, Diederichs saved all three penalty kicks to send Colfax to the semifinals in a 2-1 victory over Santa Clara-Wilcox. She also scored the team's lone goal in regulation and converted her penalty kick. The Falcons went 14-0 in PVL play and outscored their league opponents 88-3. Diederichs scored 23 and assisted on eight of those 88 goals. She helped lead the Falcons to their second consecutive Sac-Joaquin Section Division V championship and a second consecutive NorCal Regional bid. Colfax (27-2-1 overall) won its first two NorCal games and advanced to the championship for the first time in program history before falling to Bakersfield-Mira Monte 1-0.
