Wild Things, Dear Darling's Afternoon of Music, Animals rescheduled for May 6

After having to postpone its first fundraiser last October, Conservation Ambassadors' Wild Things, in partnership with the musical trio Dear Darling, has rescheduled the Afternoon of Music and Animals event for Saturday, May 6. Wild Things is a nonprofit wildlife rescue center, which provides housing and care to displaced and injured animals. According to the Wild Things website, the organization provides a home for more than 60 wildlife species and educates the community in hopes to provide the public with "a greater appreciation for the natural world." Wild Things Director Gabe Kerschner said all event proceeds will benefit the organization and go toward improvements to its facility, including finalizing fire-safe mitigation and bringing in goats for weed abatement. The event will feature live music by Dear Darling, a Sacramento-based trio of Natalie Hagwood (cello and voice), Casey Lipka (bass and voice) and Hannah Jane Kile (guitar and voice) that provides a fresh sound through their meld of folk, classical, jazz and pop. According to Kerschner, the event will also include a dessert truck and presentations and photo opportunities with 20 wild creatures, including an alligator, snakes, monkeys, lemurs and a reindeer. Kerschner said they're anticipating a beautiful day with a "big crowd and big fun" in a family friendly environment. The public is encouraged to carpool if possible and bring blankets, chairs, towels, hats, sunscreen and coolers. Wild Things is asking the community to leave dog friends, stationed umbrellas and alcohol at home. The Afternoon of Music and Animals will be from 1-3 p.m. at the Auburn Garden Theater, 350 Nevada Street (next to the Auburn Library). Gates open at 1 p.m. and the show begins at 1:30. Tickets are $24 for kids ages 6-16, $35 for adults or $100 for a family four-pack and can be purchased through the Wild Things website, wildthingsoutreach.org, or on Eventbrite. Children 5 and under are free. According to the Wild Things website, tickets previously purchased for the October event will be usable for the May 6 event.
