Placer High School celebrates 300-plus graduates of 2023 class

LeFebvre Stadium was packed Saturday morning with parents, family and friends celebrating the 300-plus graduates of Placer High School's class of 2023. A cacophony of cheers, air horns, cow bells and the occasional pop of confetti filled the stadium as graduates shuffled across the stage during Placer's 124th graduation. Speeches included Principal Kyle Turner, ASB Co-Presidents Jordan Everett and Caroline Roche, Senior Class President Arya Cruzen and Valedictorians Ari Archer, Mackenzie Arndt, Alex Belles, Paloma Delgadillo, Sierra Delp, Madelynn Labrecque, Marissa Maki Gill, Magdalena Munoz-Romero, Jamie Ranlett, Lachlan Ryan, Beck Thomas, Shannon Woodland and Zane Zanon. Turner shared words of wisdom with the graduates during his speech: to be tough, not be afraid to go the extra mile, persevere and give to others. "Know this, ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship," Turner said. "I want you to understand who you are when that challenge comes, how battle-tested you are when that challenge comes and where you are from when that challenge comes, and say to yourself, 'I'm built for this. I'm from a town called Auburn, and I represent Placer High School. I'm ready for this moment.' Class of 2023, you are ready. Go out and get yours." After their trek across the stage, graduates marked the end of their high-school career by moving their tassels to the left side of their mortarboards. The graduates closed the ceremony by linking arms around the field as they sang the Placer Alma Mater.
