Downtown Roseville is packed for 4th of July Parade

Many Roseville community members woke up bright and early on Independence Day to take their families out to Roseville's annual 4th of July Parade in downtown. Cars began parking in various structures and on nearby streets about an hour before the event to ensure they had a good viewing spot for the parade. The streets quickly filled between 8 and 9 a.m. as people prepared for the arrival of the floats. The parade started at Vernon Street Town Square with Roseville Police motorcycles clearing the street for the incoming parade. Following the 4th of July Parade's welcome banner, a Roseville Fire truck greeted everyone with a few honks. Atop the truck was Roseville Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt and Councilmembers Scott Alvord and Pauline Roccucci. They waved to guests as they passed by. Placer County Supervisor Bonnie Gore also appeared later in the parade. She waved to guests as she passed through downtown Roseville. Many of Roseville's community organizations made an appearance in the parade, including Roller King, Oak Creek BMX, Impact Axe, Byers Gymnastics and more. Local schools also made an appearance, including sports teams from Woodcreek and Roseville high schools. Costumed characters also high-fived the children as they passed through. Superhero Captain America greeted families as he proudly donned the red, white and blue of the American flag. The Star Wars cosplay group the 501st Legion marched through the parade as various types of Stormtroopers. Boba Fett also greeted children with high-fives as they passed through. The Flying Arrows rode in on horseback and trotted along in the parade. Several kids were excited to see horses in person, some for the first time. The parade lasted for about an hour with various floats and organizations passing through. The parade concluded at Royer Park, where guests were invited to stay for games, activities and live patriotic music. For many, it was a great start to celebrating the 4th of July. As people dispersed, kids were happy they got to enjoy the many sights of the parade.
