Placer County Supervisor Holmes to speak at Auburn Host Lions meeting

Auburn Host Lions has a special speaker for its meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Jim Holmes, longtime Placer County Supervisor, will enlighten the Host Lions about recent developments within the county. Auburn Host Lions meets the first and third Wednesday at noon in the Auburn Host Lions building at the Gold Country Fairgrounds near the racetrack. Lunch is offered and the meetings last an hour or so. Auburn Host Lions has been serving Auburn and surroundings for 97 years offering support for a variety of charities from seniors to children. 'From England to Colorado Women's Hall of Fame' at Gold Country Rotary meeting Linda Johnson, au Auburn native, will be the featured speaker at the next meeting of Auburn Gold Country Rotary on Thursday, Nov. 2, at Awful Annie's located at 13460 Lincoln Way. Auburn Gold Country Rotary meets every Thursday at noon. Johnson will share a presentation titled "From England to the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame." All are welcome. Superintendent to speak to Auburn Area Democrats The Auburn Area Democrats will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Gomez Center, 808 Lincoln Way in Auburn. Guest speaker Gayle Garbolino-Mojica, Placer County superintendent of schools, will discuss California politics and the implications on the Placer County public school system. Attendance is encouraged. Widowed Persons Club to meet The Widowed Persons Club of Auburn has been formed to provide support, fellowship and activities for widowed persons in Placer County. Auburn Area Republican Women to host supervisor candidates The Auburn Area Republican Women will host a general meeting Nov. 20 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Auburn Public Library at 350 Nevada St. All candidates running for supervisor in Placer County Districts 3, 4 and 5 have been invited. Meet Mike Murray and Dave Butler for District 3 and Wayne Nader for District 5. This is an opportunity to learn about the candidates and express your concerns or opinions related to issues in Placer County. The California primary election is next March. Blanketeers meetings The Sierra Blanketeers meet on the second Wednesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church off Auburn Ravine Road. No pressure, no deadlines - Sierra Blanketeers just want people to enjoy what they're doing and help a lot of children at the same time. Foothill Fibers Guild Social Saturdays The Foothill Fibers Guild holds its Social Saturday on the second Saturday of the month from 1-3 p.m. in the community meeting room at the Madeline Helling Library in Nevada City. Community members are invited to drop in and maybe join a group of fiber enthusiasts. The group meets informally to talk, share current and recent projects, practice skills and hopefully enchant newcomers. The Foothill Fibers Guild weaves, knits, makes baskets and more, and shares their love of handmade treasures.
