Oak Ridge girls win at Clovis

The Oak Ridge girls' put it all together on Saturday, placing first in the extra-large school race at the Asics Clovis Invitational held at Woodward Park in Fresno. With 42 teams competing, the Trojan girls sort of came out of nowhere to win, considering it was the season debut for their second finisher, sophomore Adriana Ingargiola, and it was unsure how she would run. "Adriana had an outstanding debut race for the 2023 season," Oak Ridge coach Rob Fairley said. "She recently returned to training with the team after a long rehabilitation program for a leg injury." Ingargiola placed 18th in the race in 19 minutes, 27.2 seconds, finishing nine places behind Oak Ridge's top finisher, junior Addie Clinton, who had an 18-second personal-record on the state meet course by running a 19:09.5. Junior Fiona Gordon, freshman Loti Boucher, and freshman Emi Madsen completed the scoring runners for the Trojans, as Gordon placed 25th in 19:41.2, Boucher finished 32nd in 19:51.2, while Madsen ran 40th in 20:01.3. Junior Nola Boucher and freshman Sutton Paulsen also ran for the Trojans, placing 73rd, in 20:53.3 and 194th in 22:51.9, respectively. "They put in a tremendous team effort throughout the entire race," Fairley said. "They were in second place with a mile to go and continued to pass competitors during the last mile to place first." Oak Ridge won the race with 120 points, while Carson High School out of Nevada placed second with 124 points. Oak Ridge's varsity boys' participated in the highly competitive championship race and placed 26th. Wesley Ewing led the way by placing 129th with a time of 16:47.1, which is a 23-second personal-best time for a 5-kilometer race. Luke Carroll was Oak Ridge's second finisher, as he ran a 16:51.4 to place 135th. Roman Zamora and Carson Karr were the team's third and fourth-place finishers, as Zamora placed 152nd in 17:06.2 and Karr finished right behind him in 156th in 17:09.0. Bailey Van Leemput rounded out the scoring for the Trojans as he placed 157th in 17:07.2. Also running for the team were Oscar Carrillo (180th, 17:52.8) and Donnie Taylor (183rd, 18:02.6).
