Oak Ridge cross country team capped off an exceptional season with some fantastic performances at the CIF State Championship meet Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Oak Ridge cross country team capped off an exceptional season with some fantastic performances at the CIF State Championship meet Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno. Six of the seven boys racing posted personal-best times, while two of the girls ran personal-best times and four ran their best times of the season. All that meant a top-10 finish for the girls' team, who placed 10th in the Division I girls race, and a top-15 finish for the boys' team, who placed 15th in the Division I boys' race. Of the 14 runners who participated, 10 are underclassmen, including the top-six girls' runners and the bottom four boys' runners. Expectations are already high, as is the excitement, for the possibilities next season. Junior Addie Clinton led the girls' team, as she placed 35th overall in 18 minutes, 24.9 seconds, a personal-best 5K time. The team's second and third runners ran seasonal-best times, including sophomore Adriana Ingargiola, who placed 66th in 19:09.4 and junior Fiona Gordon, who ran a 19.20.2 and placed 80th. Freshman Emi Madsen, like Clinton, ran a 30-second personal best time over five kilometers, finishing in 91st in 19:31.8. The team's final scoring runner, freshman Loti Boucher, placed 113th in 19:55. Also running for the team were junior Nola Boucher, who ran a seasonal-best time of 20:40.1, and senior Julia Padilla, who also posted a seasonal-best time of 21:54.8. Seniors Carson Karr, Quentin Hardy and Luke Carroll led the varsity boys' team, as they were the top-three finishers for the Trojans. Karr's time of 15:44.1 was a personal-best time by 37 seconds and only one-second off an Oak Ridge team record. Carr placed 44th in the race. Hardy had a 20-second personal best record with a time of 16:19.2 and placed 104th. Carroll's time was his fastest by 29 seconds, as he placed 110th in 16:22.4. A pair of sophomores, Roman Zamora and Bailey Van Leemput, rounded out Oak Ridge's scoring runners and also posted personal-best times. Zamora's 16:32.2 was a 34-second best time, as he placed 128th, and Van Leemput ran his best time by 30 seconds in 16:39.1 to placed 143rd. The team's final two runners were sophomores Oscar Carrillo and Wesley Ewing. Carrillo's time was his best by a full 50 seconds, as he ran a 16:43.2, while Ewing posted a time of 16:57. "Overall, the Trojan cross country teams put in outstanding efforts at the state meet," Oak Ridge coach Rob Fairley said. "The future looks very bright for the Oak Ridge cross country teams. Many of the athletes who competed will be returning next year. They will be able to use the experience they obtained this season at high level meets and apply it when they compete at next year's meets."
