Delmar Ave. lot proposed for Loomis School District deemed consistent with county plans

Placer County Planning Services determined a 19-acre parcel on Delmar Avenue being considered by the Loomis Union School District for a future school is consistent with the county's General Plan. According to a Gold Mountain California News Media article, the site is located in a rural area north of King Road, south of Citrus Colony Road and east of Sierra College Boulevard near Rock Hill Winery. The LUSD Board of Trustees took primary steps toward the possible $1,750,000 purchase of the undeveloped ranch land at 3131 Delmar Avenue in unincorporated Loomis during its Nov. 2 meeting. The purchase of the property will be contingent on an LUSD evaluation of site suitability, financing and other administrative processes. According to the Planning Commission staff report, Planning Services staff evaluated the proposed site pursuant to factors, including surrounding land uses, community design, public safety and traffic impacts and road impacts, within the county's General Plan and the Horseshoe Bar and Penryn community plans. Evaluation of the site notes the proposed site is in an area of likely future growth, proposed development should consider traffic control management programs and impacts of noise, traffic, night lighting and other environmental considerations should be evaluated when design occurs. The staff report notes staff found the proposed site consistent with the General Plan and community plans, and recommends LUSD evaluate the county's guidance for evaluating design and construction of school facilities. The Planning Commission approved the determination during its consent agenda on Dec. 14. The Gold Mountain California News Media article notes the school district will be required to make a $50,000 good-faith deposit following the approval of the purchase and sale agreement. The article also confirms the purchase of the property would require a California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review.
