Colfax man arrested for child porn possession

A Colfax man was arrested Jan. 9 on suspicion of possession of child pornography. The Placer County Sheriff's Office reported Crimes Against Persons detectives received a tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children regarding child abuse material (CSAM) being downloaded by a computer at a Placer County residence. Detectives determined the IP address was associated with a Colfax residence. A search warrant was served at the residence, and several electronic devices and devices capable of storing digital data were seized. The Sheriff's Office confirmed videos and images of CSAM were located. Jakob Dylan Johnson, 25, was booked into the Auburn Main Jail and charged with possession of child pornography, possession of more than 600 images or 12 videos of child pornography and possession of child pornography involving sadism or masochism. No in-custody information was located for Johnson. The Sheriff's Office confirmed it is "constantly working to investigate and end this type of criminal activity" and "will never tolerate children being exploited in this or any other way."
