Folsom man arrested following attack, stand off

A Folsom man was arrested Feb. 15 in relation to an attack near Livermore Park. An 80-year-old man reported being attacked, knocked down and kicked in the head by an area resident around 8:15 a.m. The Folsom Police Department reported officers found the suspect in his house on Corrigan Court. The SWAT and Crisis Negotiations teams were called in after the suspect refused to come out of the home and threatened to shoot police. Folsom PD confirmed the teams tried for hours and could see the suspect armed himself with various weapons, including suspected firearms. According to the police department, the teams used teargas to get the suspect, identified as Nashad Hisham Hamedeh, 31, to surrender around 1:30 p.m. Folsom PD also reported the suspected firearms were confirmed to be replicas. Hamedeh was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for battery, elder abuse, resisting police and violation of probation. Hamedeh remains in custody and is ineligible for bail. Hamedeh is scheduled to appear in court March 1. Folsom PD confirmed the victim suffered minor injury and was treated and released from an area hospital.
