Placer County accepts donation for library system

The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the acceptance of a bequest donation from the Friends of the Auburn Library for the library system. "Today illustrates how important people are to the library," Louise Isaacson, president of Friends of the Auburn Library, told the board. "The library really is not a building; it's made of people, and Marjorie Hope Kaff understood that and did a legacy for our Auburn Library." Isaacson described Kent, who was a teacher in Auburn for 25 years, as "a true advocate for the library" and said she always loved the library and supported it in many ways, including the $300,000 trust set up for the library. According to Isaacson, Friends of the Auburn Library put the check in a high-yield account and reserved some of the funds to give to the library this and next fiscal year. "We're honored today to present the first check of $25,000 to the library," Isaacson said. "Marjorie was very adamant about what the money was to be used for. It was to focus on non-fiction books to enhance all collections for all ages." The board thanked the non-profit for the donation, noting it as a great legacy. Placer County Library Services Director Mary George confirmed the donation "will enhance and support all of our libraries."
