Patricia Tierney Kaiser 7/22/1938 - 2/9/2024

Long-time Auburn, CA resident Patricia Ann Tierney Kaiser passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early morning on February 9, 2024, in Fullerton, CA. She was 85. She was a homemaker, a devoted mom to three children and a dear friend to those who were close to her. Known as Pat or Patty to her friends, she was a farm girl at heart and she earned a master gardener distinction in Auburn. She loved raising chickens and goats on a little hill in Ophir, where she lived with her second husband, Joseph Kaiser, and she tended to her gardens of vegetables and flowers. She also loved dogs, and in her later years, when she lived independently in an apartment in Auburn, a little black furry Shih Tzu named Charlie gave her companionship and comfort. Charlie passed away on February 28, 3 weeks after Patricia. She was a member of the Pioneer United Methodist Church in Auburn, where she forged treasured friendships. Patricia had many gifts and a natural affinity for music and art. She was self-taught on the piano, and played '60s pop songs on an upright in the house. She loved to paint folk art in watercolor. She had a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. A natural-born caregiver, she never hesitated to come to the aid of a friend or family member when they were ill. She helped care for her younger sister, her mother, and her father-in-law in their final days. Her parents were Gertrude and Robert Lamkin, and she was born Patricia Ann Lamkin in Tyrone, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1938, minutes apart from her fraternal twin sister, Sherry Lamkin. (fun fact: mother Gertrude was also a twin). The Lamkin twins also had a younger sister, Susan Lamkin (who passed away in Placerville in 1994 at 52 years of age from breast cancer). The family moved from Pennsylvania to California in 1950, when the Lamkin twins were 12, and they lived in Fontana, where Patricia met her first husband, Thomas Tierney. They married in 1956 and had three children, each a year apart. The family moved to Cambria, California in 1972, where Patricia was active with her children's high school activities, her husband's construction business, and she worked as a volunteer ambulance attendant. She loved exploring the tide pools of the Cambria shores or crabbing off the pier in San Simeon. The marriage ended in divorce, and Patricia moved to the Sacramento area to be near her mother. Here she would meet Kaiser, and the two married in 1991 on the Ophir hilltop. She lived the rest of her years in Auburn, even after her marriage to Kaiser ended in divorce. Patricia is survived by her twin sister Sherry (Dan) Moore; Patricia's three children: Cynthia (Bradley) Burke, Randall (Ronda) Tierney and Sherri (Richard) Thomas; her grandchildren: Kari Scheller, Keith Carter, Kenny (Dawn) Carter, Noel Thomas, Haley Thomas and Shane (Adele) Tierney; and her great-grandchildren: Hannah Scheller, Jarod Scheller, and Jordyn Carter. A memorial service will be held at Pioneer United Methodist Church, 1338 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603, on March 16, 2024, at 10 am.
