Auburn incident report: Officers protect $50K worth of gold; ID theft suspect arrested

March 31 Eva Marie Perras, 39, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. on suspicion of possession of unlawful paraphernalia and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on the 300 block of Elm Avenue. March 29 Auburn police officers intercepted a scam involving $50,000 worth of gold from a trusting victim. According to an Auburn Police press release, scams targeting individuals for their valuables are becoming more prevalent. Scammers often target individuals with promises of quick profits or investment opportunities that seem too good to be true. The Auburn Police Department urges everyone to remain vigilant and cautious, especially when dealing with unknown individuals or online transactions. Officers remind residents to always verify the legitimacy of sellers and transactions before proceeding and never hesitate to reach out to law enforcement if you suspect you've been targeted by a scam. Katelyn Elizabeth McGrath, 33, was arrested at 12:49 a.m. on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit on Grass Valley Highway at Edgewood Road. March 27 Robyn Lee Chase, 39, was arrested at 1:26 p.m. for two outstanding felony warrants and one outstanding misdemeanor warrant on Herr Way. March 26 An Auburn Police officer conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation on a vehicle on the 1700 block of Grass Valley Highway. The driver, Daniel Thompson of Grass Valley, initially provided officers with a false name but officers weren't convinced. He was eventually identified and found to have six outstanding bench warrants in Placer, Nevada and Sacramento counties for various offenses, including felon in possession of a firearm. He was also identified as an outstanding suspect in an identity theft case from an allied agency. A search of Thompson's vehicle revealed credit/debit cards and identifying documents belonging to several people, and narcotics. He was booked at the Placer County Jail with a bail set at $120,000 for numerous fresh charges, and a no bail on two warrants. March 24 Jetil Tyrone James, 29, was arrested at 7:36 p.m. for an outstanding felony warrant on Nevada Street at Placer Street. Darrell Manuel Price, 53, was arrested at 1:02 a.m. on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit on the 500 block of Auburn Ravine Road. March 22 Joel Ryan Rivett, 25, was arrested at 8:32 p.m. on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit on Highway 49 at Sawyer Street. Kevin Lashan McNeal, 49, was arrested at 3:10 p.m. on suspicion of elder abuse and vandalism defacing property on the 100 block of Davis Lane. March 18 Robert Howard Neep, 59, was arrested at 9:59 p.m. for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on I-80 west at Ophir Road. Charles James Harris, 68, was arrested at 9:43 p.m. on suspicion of possession of unlawful paraphernalia and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on I-80 west at Ophir Road. Gregory Duane Brazier Sr., 54, was arrested at 10 a.m. on suspicion of being a public nuisance in Old Town Auburn.
