Larry Donaldson 7/1/1938 - 4/9/2024

Larry Paul Donaldson, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his wife Holly, daughter Marci and beloved dogs. Larry was predeceased by his two sisters, Lois and Linda. He is survived by his amazingly tolerant 4th wife, Holly; his brother, Morris; his 4 children, Terry, Kelly, Eric and Marci; 6 stepchildren; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Larry was born and raised hell in Roseville; he could talk tirelessly about the town and his exploits (and often did). He graduated in 1956 from Roseville High School and enjoyed monthly meetings with his former classmates – the 56ers. Larry had distinguished and rewarding careers with the California Highway Patrol and in the construction industry. Larry was a strict disciplinarian, tough and stubborn (his three wonderful ex-wives would agree). He was a patriot who loved his country and his flag bearing t-shirts. Larry also loved horses. One of his proudest experiences was riding his Appaloosa stallion, Sammy, in the Rose Parade as well as in President Carter's inaugural parade in Washington D.C. Larry had a good heart and was happy to help friends and family. He worked hard, traveled the world with Holly, and enjoyed the simple things like random road trips, roller-skating with his mother in law or coffee with his friends. The joy of Larry's retirement years was raising his grandson and best buddy, Devin. Over time, his family began to believe that he was invincible as he survived a horrible construction accident and bravely battled leukemia for over 30 years. No complaining, no giving up and no hair loss! Incredible. The family would like to thank all the wonderful and professional caregivers at Roseville Care Center, Always Better Care and the Vitas Hospice team. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. Larry wanted to share one last joke but the paper would not print it. Rest in Peace – you were a pain in the ass but we all loved you and you will be missed! Larry didn't want a service but rather a party! Details forthcoming.
