Sacramento Open pickleball tournament features men's, women's No. 1 players

The Veolia Sacramento Open, held at Life Time Roseville from Wednesday through Sunday, promises to be a top-notch pickleball tournament. Pickleball world No. 1's Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns, Olympic gold medalist Jack Sock and Wimbleton finalist Genie Bouchard headline the pro player field. On top of that, more than 900 amateur players will also participate in the Carvana Professional Pickleball Association's first event in Northern California – a hotbed for the sport. The best pickleball players in the world descend on Roseville this week for the Veolia Sacramento Open. The pro competition began Thursday (men's and women's singles), Friday, June 7 (mixed doubles), Saturday, June 8, (men's and women's doubles) and championship Sunday, June 9, with the gold and bronze medal matches from all five disciplines. The world's top players are both 17-years-old, Johns and Waters, and they are heavy favorites to win their events. Olympic tennis gold and bronze medalist Jack Sock is competing in singles, doubles and mixed doubles and is a strong contender and fan favorite. Wimbledon tennis finalist Genie Bouchard continues her improvement in her new pro pickleball career, competing across all three events.
