Iron Rose moves within 1 point of first

The new kids in town are off to a flying start, as Iron Rose FC is within one point of first place in the Pac North Conference in its inaugural season in the Women's Premier Soccer League. Iron Rose is still unbeaten on the season with three wins and two draws in seven matches so far. Heading into the final two matches of the season, Iron Rose sits in third place in the conference with 13 points, one point behind both FC Davis and the San Francisco Nighthawks, Iron Rose beat San Francisco 3-0 and tied FC Davis 1-1. Saturday's home finale was pivotal for Iron Rose if it wanted to remain in the playoff picture and it did just that, defeating San Ramon FC 3-0. The home side wasted no time getting started, as Shea Ryan put Iron Rose on top in the 11th minute with a strike. Twenty minutes later Gabrielle Starr doubled the lead with a goal on a feed from Ashleigh Garcia. Local product Lakelee Perkins scored for Iron Rose as well, as the Whitney High School graduate buried one in the back of the net in the 46th minute to put the match out of reach. Saturday's match was the third match in the span of seven days for Iron Rose and it was a successful week, as Roseville picked up seven points out of a possible nine. The draw came Wednesday on the road against the California Storm, who sit two points behind Iron Rose in fourth place. Iron Rose recieved some recognition for the strong week, rising to No. 8 in the WPSL West Region rankings. It is Iron Rose's first appearance in the rankings. The regular season wraps up this week for Iron Rose with two road matches, Thursday against Lamorinda United and Saturday against the Fresno Freeze.
