Colleen Marie (Shanley) Morrill 5/26/1932 - 5/27/2024

It is with heavy hearts we share the news of the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Colleen Morrill (92). She passed away on May 27, 2024 at her home in Roseville where she lived the last 2 years to be closer to family. Colleen was born on May 26, 1932 in Auburn, California. In her early years she could be found in the Shanley orchards playing with her cousins or riding horses with her Uncle Garth around the Weimer/Applegate area and down to the American River. She attended Auburn Union Elementary and Placer High Schools and held her first job at the Auburn State Theater. In 1949 she married her husband Marlin and moved to Rocklin where she raised her family and was a full time homemaker for 28 years. She volunteered her time at Rocklin Grammar and Oakmont High Schools where her children attended and was sure to attend all of her son's sporting events. In retirement she and Marlin moved to Clipper Gap where she lived for the next 44 years. They shared a love of the outdoors and spent time traveling and camping with close friends Bill and Alma Meyer. She also enjoyed weekly card nights with friends and family. Over the years Colleen was also a competitive bowler, avid golfer, passionate sports enthusiast, expert pie maker and a meticulous antique refinisher and collector. Colleen had a sharp memory and those around her delighted in hearing her tell stories recollecting her life experiences over the years. She will be dearly missed. Colleen was preceded in death by her husband Marlin Morrill, her parents John Shanley and Hazel Cowen, and her brothers Bernie and Sheldon Shanley. She is survived by her daughter Marleen (Larry) Rizzi and son Butch (Marcie) Morrill. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; Bryan Rizzi, Jennifer Rizzi, Scott Morrill, Kim Union, and Lianne Zaft, as well as four great grandchildren. She will be remembered and celebrated in a private family gathering in September.
