Twin Lakes Food Bank shelves nearly empty - urgent help needed

The Twin Lakes Food Bank is in urgent need of community support and donations; some of its food shelves are literally empty. According to the City of Folsom, the Twin Lakes Food Bank is seeing a 20% surge in hungry families, yet a decline in food donations. The Twin Lakes Food Bank serves people in the El Dorado Hills, Folsom, and Granite Bay regions. You can help by joining the annual Community Service Day cityside food drive on Saturday, September 21st either by volunteering or making a donation. Folsom city officials say volunteers will deliver empty grocery bags and a list of needed nonperishable food items to every household in Folsom before September 21st. Please place your filled bag on your driveway by 8am on Saturday, September 21st, so volunteers can collect it. The top items needed are: Cereal Canned Tuna Canned Chicken Canned ravioli Pasta and pasta sauce Canned fruit and vegetables Pasta/Rice-A-Roni Instant mashed potatoes City officials point out that if every Folsom household donates one bag of groceries, we can feed Folsom's hungry for one year. The Twin Lakes Garden was established in 2012 and is a quarter acre urban garden that produces thousands of pounds of fresh food each year for food bank clients. It is located on the property of Mount Olive Church. The location has 60 raised beds, more than a dozen fruit trees, a greenhouse and a food waste composting area. According to a 2022-23 impact report, the food bank served 34-thousand people, 8-thousand seniors and 5-thousand children.
