Letters to the editor: A vote for the incumbent, and one for the challenger in District 5 Supervisor race

Dear Editor, I am urging voters to support Cindy Gustafson for Placer County Supervisor in District 5 because she's been an incredible advocate for our recreational opportunities and quality of life. District 5, including Auburn and the Sierra Foothills, are blessed with amazing natural resources from the foothills to the High Sierra, and Cindy understands the importance of conservation to our quality of life and local economy. Cindy has led efforts to increase the county's collaboration with our partners, such as the Placer Land Trust, on the conservation of open space, stewardship and enhanced public access throughout our region. Her work to promote and protect our trails and recreational areas has allowed residents and visitors alike to enjoy the natural beauty of Placer County. Cindy also is a strong advocate for county government to be responsive to its residents' needs. Cindy and her team consistently make themselves available to the constituents of the 5th District, going above and beyond to address concerns and find solutions to the issues that matter most to us. She also promotes fair and effective distribution of resources across the county and ensures county staff is focused on customer service to best serve our needs. Cindy Gustafson is a tireless advocate for the people of District 5 and Placer County, and I believe she is the right person to continue serving on the Board of Supervisors. I encourage you to join me in supporting her re-election by voting Cindy Gustafson for District 5 Supervisor. Sincerely, Deanna Stilwell Auburn A vote for Nader as District 5 supervisor We all have a very important role to play in the Placer County District 5 Supervisor election on Nov. 5. The District 5 Supervisor is a critical elected official who determines land use, approves or denies development projects, funds communities and appoints people to boards and councils. This is why we need a person of integrity. I have spent hours investigating both candidates via public information sources (Placer County Elections Portal and the CalAccess websites) to view all Form 460s. Form 460 is a required candidate filing to clearly show all donors and contributions so the public can see where the campaign money is really coming from. If you do very simple research, you will find alarming results for the current District 5 Supervisor that shows she is a developer-backed candidate; the developer donations are staggering. Those donors want to profit off Placer, not protect us; those donors want to exploit Placer. These findings lead to my full support of Wayne Nader, a candidate with integrity. Nader's campaign is self-funded and only has individual donors and small businesses contributing. He refuses to accept donations from developers. Nader's goal is to protect Placer and preserve our way of life. I commend and support his approach because it shows his willingness to do what is best for us, the people of Placer County, not outsiders and not developers or special interests who want to permanently change our way of life. Nader will tackle traffic issues, ensure responsible growth, fully support fire safety and emergency personnel and preserve Placer for us. Nader is a man with a vision we share and the experience we trust! Please help to protect Placer and vote for Wayne Nader on Nov. 5!
