Roseville City Council defers $620,000 for 'Electric Pickle' restaurant, pickleball park

The Roseville City Council approved a $620,000 fee deferral in September for the proposed "Electric Pickle" restaurant and pickleball park along Highway 65 next to the Westfield Galleria at Roseville. Electric Pickle, a restaurant, entertainment and outdoor pickleball facility, will be located within the North Central Roseville Specific Plan area on Conference Center Drive facing the freeway next to the Stanford Ranch off ramp at the Galleria. As proposed by applicant Jarod Taylor, the multi-million dollar project includes a 12,700 square-foot, two-story restaurant, a 1,500 square-foot cabana building with bar, multiple shade structures, nine outdoor pickleball courts, plus bocci ball courts among other outdoor amenities. The project received planning commission approval last year. Roseville offers a fee deferral program for certain city-controlled impact fees through the Economic Development Department as an incentive to encourage development. All non-residential fee deferrals greater than $100,000 require City Council approval. The council held a required public hearing and approved the deferral Sept. 18, allowing the fees deferred to building and final occupancy later, staff said.The city's fee deferral program is an important economic development tool that facilitates new development that may not otherwise be financially feasible without this program, staff said in the report. "Construction of this project will create temporary construction jobs and permanent full and/or part time jobs, generate sales tax revenue to the City, and provide a venue for hosting national and regional tournaments," Roseville Economic Development Analyst Gina McColl and Director Melissa Anguiano announced in the city report.
