Tony Freitas 12/23/1942 - 9/13/2024

Anthon "Tony" Christopher Freitas, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 13th, 2024, while gardening at his home in Applegate, California. Tony was 81 years young and lived an incredibly active lifestyle for all of his days. Tony was born on December 23rd, 1942, to Ann Cypriano and Anton "Tony" Freitas, Jr and he is also the younger brother of his sister Colette Freitas. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Susan Bennett-Freitas, and his four children: Elizabeth, Timothy and Suzanne, and Nicholas. Tony was also the adored "Poppa/Grandpa" to five grandsons, Ryan, Kyle and William Kowarsch, Joshua Freitas and Franco Freitas. Without question, Tony Freitas was an exceptional man. His life was well-lived and characterized by humility, generosity, kindness, and understanding. He offered those around him a listening ear, thoughtful questions, and a compassionate heart. Tony was "best friend" to many and the finest "Pop" and husband…..dedicated, loyal, and enduring. Tony was born in Honolulu on Wednesday, December 23rd, 1942, and he lived his early years in Hawaii. After high school, Tony earned his bachelor's degree in PE and Education at San Jose State. After a short stint teaching, Tony started his career and quickly became a pioneer in the field of Lab Planning and Medical Equipment Planning. Tony and Susan moved to Applegate, California, in 1987 to be closer to the mountains they both enjoy. The home they shared is where Tony and Susan have spent the last 37 wonderful years. During retirement, Tony kept his mind sharp, holding multiple volunteer roles. He loved his athletics - playing anything with a racket (tennis!), snow skiing, gardening, kayaking and dog walking with their sweet dog, Thibault. It was his greatest joy to spend time with his wife, his family and their close friends.
