Donald "Don" Berg 10/7/1946 -10/27/2024

Donald Gordon Berg, 78, known as Don by his friends, of Auburn, California, passed away in his home on October 27, 2024, after bravely battling cancer. He grew up in East Sacramento and graduated from Sacramento High School and Sacramento State University. He was born on October 7, 1946. Don had a unique passion for providing a positive role model for youth through coaching baseball. His dedication to helping young athletes succeed was matched by his long service as a probation officer for the Sacramento Probation Department, where he made a significant impact on the community. Family and friends were the center of his life, and he cherished time spent with family. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Don especially loved golf and baseball. He was known for his unique sense of humor and enjoyed sipping Cherry Pepsi, reading, and watching Sunday sports on TV. He is survived by his wife, Raelynn Berg; his son, Ron Sherratt; his daughter, Leslie Carrol; three grandchildren; and two sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
