Folsom announces appointment of new chief building official

Folsom has announced the appointment of a new chief building official. Allison Konwinski has been named to the position. In a news release, Folsom city officials said Konwinski brings 15 years of engineering experience and an extensive understanding of building codes, permitting and safety stands to the city's Building Division. This role is pivotal, as it oversees building inspections, permitting operations and plans reviews to ensure projects meet the highest safety and compliance standards. As chief building official, Konwinski will oversee the Folsom Accelerated Small Tenant Improvement Review Program and will lead an initiative to streamline and accelerate the permitting process. "We are fortunate to have someone of Allison's exceptional caliber as our chief building official," said Community Development Director Pam Johns. "Her leadership, technical expertise, strong work ethic and commitment to exceptional service make her the perfect choice for this important role." According to the city of Folsom's announcement of Konwinski's appointment, she has served the city of Folsom for more than five years, most recently as the deputy building official. She previously served as a senior engineer at the city of Sacramento and provided engineering services at private structural firms in Sacramento, San Francisco and San Diego. The city also said Konwinski's experience spans every stage of the building process, including schematic design, construction documentation, detailed plan reviews, construction administration and project approvals. Konwinski holds a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and a master's degree in structural engineering from UC San Diego. Konwinski lives in Folsom and enjoys spending time with her family, coaching soccer, paddle boarding at Lake Natoma and enjoying Historic Folsom.
