Folsom bulldozes Inderkum in 45-0 shutout

Folsom High's football team is known for the high-flying passing attack, but on a night with a steady rain and windy conditions on Friday, the Bulldogs leaned on their offensive line and run game. They didn't even need to pass the ball in the Division I semifinal against Inderkum, as they had four rushing touchdowns in a 45-0 shutout. Ryder Lyons ran for three touchdowns and threw two more in the dominating win. Carter Jackson also had a rushing touchdown while Daymion Rivera and Isaiah Williams caught touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, Folsom's defense was dominant, as Inderkum only broke inside the Folsom 35-yard line two times all night. "We were really locked in defensively all week," Folsom senior defensive end Theo Greule said. "We knew it would be raining and we played our hardest. Every week, we're someone's Super Bowl, and we knew they'd be fired up to play. We were ready and prepared." Offensively, Folsom's offensive line of Vlad Dyakonov, Isaac Ross, Zach Ramirez, Luke Sorensen and Malachi Coleman controlled the line of scrimmage and the game. "Seeing the weather, you can make assumptions that we were going to be running the ball," Sorensen said. "It was fun, and I loved every bit of it. It's smash mouth football and that's what we're about. I love playing in the rain and throwing guys around." Lyons ran for 126 yards and that was 17 more yards than he passed for. Carter Jackson picked up 98 yards on the ground and Rivera gained 94. "It was a lot of fun running the ball tonight," Rivera said. "The game plan was more to run the ball like last year. The offensive line played great and was firing on all cylinders." When asked before the game if he was concerned about the rain, Lyons said he was not; nor was his coach. "The rain wasn't so bad; we had guys keeping the balls dry," said Folsom coach Paul Doherty. "The wind was tough, especially when we were going against it. Our offensive line is the biggest area of improvement this season. We've got two seniors on the interior playing phenomenally. Our two tackles are national recruits and our sophomore center might be the best of them all." After the game, Doherty told his team to enjoy the victory. "Do not take anything for granted," Doherty said. "You beat a really good football team who's got some really good coaches and we earned every bit of it. We've got another one next week except it's for a T-shirt and a hat."
