William Lauritsen

William (Bill) Emil Lauritsen, 70, passed away in his sleep on October 31, 2024. He was the husband of Ana Roa Lauritsen. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, he was the son of William Hans Lauritsen and Josephine Lauritsen (nee Kominiewicz). He graduated from Rutgers, the state university of New Jersey with a Masters degree in Business Administration and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He retired in 2016 after working 30 years for the United States Department of State as Financial Management Officer in embassies in Tanzania, Australia, The Congo, Jamaica, Columbia, Saudi Arabia, and Afghanistan. He also served as United States Disbursing Officer in Canberra, Australia for the South Pacific, finance office in Washington and instructor at the Foreign Service. He was a member of the Northern CA chapters of the American Foreign Service Association, the Sierra Club, the Lincoln Democratic Club, the Placer County Democratic Central Committee, the Rotary Club of Lincoln, and a valuable volunteer with the Lincoln Theatre Company. Bill was a councilmember serving in District 4 since 2020 and was a member of the Economic Development Committee. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, the theatre, and supporting his community. He will be remembered for his dedication to his country and city, and for his love and devotion to his beloved wife, Ana. He is survived by his spouse Ana, brother, John J. Phillips Jr. and sister-in-law Iris, cousins; John Samuelson Jr., Janet Samuelson Waondowsky, Nancy Garsick, Maripat Zupko, Norma Jean McGuire, Paul Lauritsen, Frank DeLucia, Kenneth Delucia, Susan Mclane, Christian Miller, Jennifer Mettalo, Debra Wojaczski, Kathy Riehl, James Lauritsen, and Diane Lauritsen. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers James and Joseph Phillips.
