Navy League, Auburn Symphony partner for February dinner meeting

Placer County Council of the Navy League members and guests will hear from Leslie Rogers, president of the Auburn Symphony Board of Directors, and will be entertained by "Serenade," a duo from the symphony, at its February dinner meeting Monday, Feb. 17, at the Auburn Veterans Hall. Serenade players are George Weis on cello and David Thorp on violin and viola. This meeting will be a first of its kind and a great way to find out about the Navy League and symphony. Rogers has served on the symphony board for seven years and has been president since 2023. The Auburn Symphony's mission is, "To enrich and engage our community across generations through the gift of music." It is recognized as one of the best community orchestras in the country. The Placer County Council of the Navy League of the United States is a national civilian organization that supports the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and US Flag Merchant Marine. In addition to its 118 individual members, the council is supported by three community affiliate members: TGH Aviation, Lassila Funeral Chapel and Chapel of the Hills. Dinner meetings are held on the third Monday of every month. The Veterans Memorial Hall is located at 100 East Street in Auburn. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for a social hour, followed by dinner and the meeting at 6:30. Dinner is catered at $20 per person, so reservations are necessary and may be made by calling Placer County Council President Bonnie Potter at 530-823-2820 by Friday, Feb. 14.
