In Loving Memory of Boris Brown 12/15/1935 - 1/15/2025

Boris Brown, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated educator, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on December 15, 1935, in Waukegan, Illinois, Boris's family moved to San Francisco when he was nine. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served proudly for four years, serving in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. He graduated from Chico State University and began his teaching career at Colfax High School in 1963, where he taught history and political science. Boris also coached the freshman football team for numerous years, helping to establish a proud foundation for a successful program. He also served as Athletic Director for Colfax High School prior to his retirement in 1997. Boris was a cherished husband of 65 years to Marthine Brown and a proud father to Lorene Wetzel and Matthew Brown. His legacy continues through his wife Marthine, his daughter Lorene (Mark), his son Matthew (Laurie), his brother Rodger Brown (Jessa), his sister Claire High, his grandchildren Rick Wetzel, Corina Thorne, and Connor Brown (Hailey), his great-grandchildren Addison Thorne, Lincoln Thorne, and Callan Brown, and numerous nephews and nieces. Boris was preceded in death by his father Boris Brown, Sr, his mother Elizabeth Brown, his brother Grant Brown, and his brother-in-law Joseph High. During his career teaching at Colfax High School, Boris was a mentor and role model to countless students. His passion for teaching and his commitment to his students' success left an indelible mark on the community. Boris's life was a testament to hard work, integrity, and kindness. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and lessons will remain in our hearts forever. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1st between 1 PM and 3 PM at Lassila Funeral and Chapel in Auburn, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Colfax High School's athletic fund (CHS Athletics, 24995 Ben Taylor Rd, Colfax, CA 95713, in memory of Mr. Boris Brown), or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (www.vfw.org).
