Russ Lindgren 9/5/1946 - 11/8/2024

Russ Lindgren, a devoted educator, community volunteer, and passionate sports fan, passed away peacefully at the age of 78. Born to Russ and Eunice, Russ dedicated his life to education, inspiring countless students throughout his teaching career at both the high school and college levels. A holder of master's degrees in history and political science, his love for learning extended beyond the classroom, where he engaged in thoughtful political discussions, lively debates, and a lifelong passion for reading. Russ was an active member of his community, serving with dedication in the Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, and multiple volunteer organizations, always striving to make a positive difference in the lives of others. A lifelong fan of Cal Football and the San Francisco Giants, Russ found joy in cheering on his teams, always sporting his signature Hawaiian shirts! Russ deeply valued relationships and connections, cherishing time with his fraternity brothers, academic colleagues, and even his kindergarten classmates, whom he reconnected with later in life. He also formed many meaningful friendships in both Sonora and Folsom. Russ was predeceased by his cherished wife, Nancy, with whom he shared many joyful years of marriage. His memory lives on through his daughter Kristin and her husband Doug, his son Russ and his wife Valerie, his sister Karen, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom continue to uphold his legacy of kindness and service. Russ' legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the students he inspired, and the community he served. He will be remembered for his generosity, integrity, and unwavering support for his community, especially those who were the most in need.
