Guest editorial: The rumors are true

I was elected to the Lincoln City Council in 2018 and re-elected unopposed in 2022. I am on my second term as mayor, and it has been the honor of my life to serve my beloved town in this capacity. I'm extremely proud of the work my colleagues and I have done, along with our amazing city staff, to bring Lincoln out of the past riddled with mismanagement and financial uncertainty to where we are now. Our city is financially stable with the most transparency Lincoln has ever seen. Our public safety levels are stronger than they have been in many years, which reflects Lincoln's rating of seventh-safest city in California. I have been dedicated to economic growth by cutting through cumbersome and outdated regulations to create a business-friendly city, including creative incentives to bring desired amenities to Lincoln. Our staff members are dedicated, talented and honest. They work extremely hard every day for our residents. As mayor and a councilmember, I'm proud of the supportive environment we have created for our staff to thrive. Lincoln's future is bright and I'm so grateful for the trust that has been placed in me to help lead our community. I still have the rest of 2025 and 2026 left on my second term and it is my intent to continue giving my all for this town I love so dearly. However, recent circumstances which threaten the well-being of our community have caused me to look to the future and ask what my next step is. Previously, I would have said I'm perfectly content to continue serving on the Lincoln City Council as long as our residents will have me. But things have changed. It is clearer than ever the residents of Placer County District 2 need someone who will fight for them and be a true representative for their well-being. As tax-paying citizens, Lincoln and West Roseville deserve a county representative who will make them a priority, one who will always tell them the truth and remember who they are accountable to. I believe in this moment in our history, I am that person. I bring the history, connection and experience to represent you well. I grew up in Lincoln, but I also have strong ties to Roseville. I graduated from Oakmont High School (there was no West Roseville back then). I spent 14 years teaching at Cooley Middle School, which sits right outside the district lines. Additionally, for further context, my husband has been a teacher at Roseville High School for 24 years. I'm very familiar with the community of West Roseville and have great connections to the City of Roseville as a whole. So, in case you have heard the rumor, it is true! I have decided I will be running for Placer County Supervisor, District 2, in the 2026 election. I realize this might ruffle some feathers, but I care too much for District 2 to just sit back and not act. Lincoln and West Roseville are special and it's time for strong representation at the county level. I'm always available for coffee or a phone call if you have questions.
